WTA History

WTA has a long and influential history in the Central Texas apartment locating and real estate industries. The founders of WTA started as apartment locators in 1984 when apartment locating was in it’s infancy, and the large majority of Austin real estate was sales. They instantly saw that apartment locators could help not only the apartment communities but the client in a mutually beneficial relationship and in 1987 formed Wilson, Tindall and Associates (WTA), a real estate brokerage focused almost exclusively on apartment locating.

The first office was originally in Southeast Austin on Ben White blvd. but with the promise of the apartment locating industry growing daily, it wasn’t long until WTA expanded to their second office in North Austin. Today WTA has 8 offices in 3 cities in central Texas and is one of the largest apartment locator organizations in the country as well as a founding member of Apartments Across America - one of the largest national apartment locator networks encompassing more than a dozen large multifamily markets.

While WTA does broker a small sales divisions, and encourages our agents to sell in addition to locating if they prefer, at its heart WTA is a locator-friendly brokerage. It’s what we do and have done for more than 25 years. The owners have been apartment locators, managers of apartment locating offices, brokers and owners.

As locators, we know how important it is to understand this industry before you can manage other’s within it. That is why we promote from within. The best locators always have the opportunity to become managers, so that they can teach the art to their agents.

We think of apartment locating as being an art not a science and it’s our goal to help you develop and succeed at your art!
